HTC Magic Available to Buy from May 1 Only at Vodafone PDF Print E-mail

The new Android-based HTC Magic device, which will be the second device to run Google’s Android operating platform, will be exclusively available from Vodafone starting from 1 May. The HTC Magic, which will be Vodafone’s  first Android-powered smartphone, features a 3.2-inch QVGA touch screen, 3.2-megapixel camera, GPS, MP3 player, as well as HSDPA or WiFi connectivity. In the UK, Vodafone will offer the HTC Magic free with a two-year GBP35-a-month contract with unlimited mobile broadband usage (limited by a fair usage policy to 500MB per month).

The HTC Magic, exclusive in the UK to Vodafone and Vodafone’s first Android-powered smartphone, will be available to buy from May 1 at, through Vodafone’s retail stores and from telesales.

Pricing for the HTC Magic starts from free on a two year contract at £35 per month including unlimited mobile internet use*, 600 minutes and unlimited texts. The phone will also come with a 2GB memory card. Customers who take advantage of the pre-order service online before May 1 will also benefit from a great value offer from Vodafone and receive the £35 price plan for £30.
To mark the availability Vodafone is launching a national treasure hunt to win one of 20 HTC Magic phones during May. In March Vodafone announced that its customers can receive free text messages from people they choose to follow via SMS on Twitter and send text messages to a short code (86444) for their “tweets”, @replies, or to follow someone on the go.

About the phone

The HTC Magic is an easy to use touch screen mobile, which allows users to personalise the way they use the internet on their mobile, as well as download relevant applications, ringtones and games thanks to direct access to the application-rich Android Market.

The new design includes six hard buttons for navigation, volume control, a call/hang up key, home button, menu button, and quick ‘Search’ key to make using the phone’s menus or searching the internet even quicker. The touch screen includes a responsive QWERTY keyboard which uses predictive text for speed and the ability to cut and paste.
There are plenty of new additions to the latest Android-powered phone including improvements to the fully functional web browser, with GoogleTM search and Vodafone live! on the home screen, which allows users to easily find information and discover the mobile internet experience. It also features stereo Bluetooth for audio, the ability to load pictures to Picasa Web AlbumsTM, and to record video and upload clips to YouTubeTM.

Available in white, the HTC Magic has a 3.2” QVGA touch screen display, with accelerometer to change from portrait to landscape view. The HTC Magic includes a variety of email options such as Google Mail™, POP3 and IMAP as well as Google Talk™ for instant messaging. The phone can easily synchronise with Google CalendarTM and contacts, and it comes with Google MapsTM with Street View for satellite view, traffic views and Google Latitude making it easier to stay in touch with friends.

Other features include 500MB internal memory, with capacity for a 8GB external memory, removable battery and supports Quad-band GSM, dual-band UMTS, HSDPA/HSUPA, Wi-fi, GPS, and a 3.2MP camera capable of video recording and MMS.
