Vodafone Germany has announced plans to launch the HTC Magic, the first touch screen device based on Google’s Android operating system. Together with the Taiwanese manufacturer, Vodafone Germany will exclusively market the HTC Magic smartphone in Germany starting from April 2009.The HSPA-enabled HTC Magic device provides peak downlink rates of up to 7.2 Mbps and up to 2 Mbps in the uplink. The high-performance device can be enhanced with an array of applications available via the Android Market.
Vodafone is soon to launch the HTC Magic, the first mobile phone with Google's Android operating system. The HTC is 100% touch screen controlled. HSPA with up to 7.2 Mbit/s in the downlink and up to 2 Mbit/s in the uplink make this elegant smart phone even faster on the Internet for users on the move than some PCs connected to a DSL line.
In addition to the big touch screen with an 8.13 cm (3.2 inch) diagonal and a 320 x 480 pixel resolution, the HTC Magic has a multitude of further special features. These include: a 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus for incredible photos and videos, a 528 MHz Qualcomm Processor, WLAN (802.11b/g), Bluetooth 2.0 with wireless music transfer in stereo quality and a 1,340 mAh high-performance battery, among other features. The integrated motion and position sensor provides automatic website display in landscape format when the HTC Magic is turned 90 degrees. Websites look just as they do on the PC, and can be enlarged and reduced practically stepless.
The QWERTZ format keypad that appears automatically as required allows text to be written quickly and comfortably. In the telephone mode numbers are quick and easy to select via the virtual keypad; contacts can also be swiftly called from the address book; calendar entries, e-mails and contacts are synchronised with your personal Google account using wireless technology. Regardless of whether entries are made or are changed via the Google website or the HTC Magic, you are constantly kept up to date on the web and on the smart phone.
This intelligent phone can already be enhanced and personal requirements satisfied with hundreds of programmes via the Android Market. With “Wikitude” the HTC Magic becomes an interactive travel guide, showing relevant infos on nearby sights in real-time on the display. “Barcoo” can be used to easily call up and compare information on products and prices – by scanning a DVD’s barcode, for example. There are also some applications for the convenient and comfortable use of Web 2.0 applications, such as Twitter, Facebook and flickr, for example. And with “My Tracks” the HTC Magic becomes the ultimate companion for all fresh air activities. Travelled paths when roaming or cycling, for example, are recorded and displayed on a map or satellite picture via the built-in GPS receiver and the HTC Magic’s digital compass. The track can also be posted directly on the web and sent to friends at any time via the smart phone’s fast Internet connection.
Together with the Taiwanese manufacturer, Vodafone will exclusively market the HTC Magic smart phone in Germany as soon as April 2009.
Interested customers can register for this “magical” smart phone on Vodafone’s website at www.vodafone.de. Further information on the device’s features, prices and the precise start date will then be provided as soon as it is available.
