Vodafone has recorded vast growth in mobile Internet usage with the UMTS data card. Now, it is planning to drastically increase the free data volume that is provided with the Vodafone Time/Volume data tariff options from 8 July 2005 onwards. This makes it even easier and more attractive for first-time UMTS users to switch over to mobile data transmission in the UMTS network. The new terms and conditions will automatically apply for existing customers who have booked a Vodafone Time or Vodafone Volume tariff option.

The volume-based tariffs will be considerably enhanced by the higher free data volume. In the 'Vodafone Volume L' basic tariff, customers will receive 30 MB free data volume per month (previously 10 MB) for the same inclusive rate. Customers who select the 'Vodafone Volume XL' tariff get a whole 200 MB of free data volume (as compared with 50 MB). Vodafone also offers the 'Vodafone Volume XXL' tariff option, which is associated with 500 MB free data volume, and 'Vodafone Volume XXL 1000', which is practically a mobile flatrate and includes 1000 MB of free data volume per month. Users simply select one of the four Vodafone Volume tariff options that best suits their requirements.

Vodafone customers who prefer to be billed for data usage according to the time they spend online can still select a 'Vodafone Time' tariff option. The Vodafone Time/Volume tariffs for mobile Internet usage in the German Vodafone network became considerably more attractive when the Vodafone At Home Web option was launched at CeBit as an alternative to DSL and the Vodafone Time/Volume International Options for low-cost international MCC card were introduced.
