3 Comes to Canberra

www.three.com

3 mobile is bringing its third generation (3G) mobile service to Canberra's residents, delivering video calling, news and sports video clips and reports, full-length music audio and video tracks, mobile broadband, high speed email and other services. 3 was the first provider to launch its 3G service in Australia more than two years ago, and is the first operator to deliver Canberra's retail consumers a full 3G offering, comprising handsets, content, services such as video calling, and capped voice pricing.

From tomorrow, Canberra residents can order 3 online at www.three.com.au or by calling 3 Direct on 131 683. The first 3 retail store will be opening in Canberra in mid August. 3 will also soon be available through a number of retail outlets throughout Canberra including Allphones, Digitone, Powerhouse, Big W, Dick Smith and Tandy.

"Canberra joins over half a million customers across Australia's major metro areas in enjoying the 3 experience," said Kevin Russell, CEO of 3. "With the types of services we are delivering through mobiles, people are changing the way they communicate and stay in touch, and in turn their expectations of what their service should bring them are changing."

In addition to Canberra residents being able to join 3, existing customers from Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane and the Gold Coast can now enjoy 3 services when they are in Canberra.

Content on 3
Customers signing up to 3 will have a range of content to either subscribe to on a monthly basis for as little as $3 per month for unlimited access, or access on a 'pay as you go' basis. Services include news (Sky News, ABC), sports, music (Rage 24/7 music channel, tones, videos, audio tracks), games and comedy (video clips, animation) and high speed email. One of the latest additions this winter is 3's snow report, featuring daily weather and ski run reports from Perisher Blue, Thredbo, Selwyn Snowfields, Charlotte Pass, Mt Buller, Falls Creek and Mt Hotham.

Pricing on 3
3 led the market in introducing 'cap' pricing in 2003. Today 3 offers customers a range of six cap plans to choose from, as well as other pricing options depending on expected usage. 3's cap plans have a low minimum spend, and include features such as international calls, SMS and MMS to a value above the cap price. For example, the $29 Cap actually delivers $190 worth of value.

"Launching our commercial operations in Canberra is another significant step for 3, as we continue to deliver leading edge mobile voice, data and content services," Russell added.

In addition to benefiting from great services and content in 3's Broadband Zones, customers use GSM/GPRS roaming services when they are outside of 3's Broadband Zones, putting them in touch with 96% of the Australian population through Talk, SMS, MMS and Email.
