Vodafone is starting up its Christmas business with seven new UMTS mobiles and two data cards and thereby marking the beginning of the mass market for UMTS. These extremely attractive mobile phones cover all price categories and will be an important part of the Christmas business.
Following the successful launch of the UMTS data card in February 2004 and the first two UMTS mobiles as of May 2004, Vodafone is now announcing the start of the mass business with UMTS mobile phones. Within the scope of its Christmas business, Vodafone will be offering seven UMTS mobiles in the shops in Germany: the Motorola V980 and E1000, the Sharp V902, the Sony Ericsson V800, the Samsung Z107 and Z110 as well as the Nokia 6630. Moreover, two UMTS data cards will also be offered, which enables you to work via a notebook, with a fast link-up, when out and about.
Thanks to UMTS, attractive new applications will be possible on the mobile phone: with video telephony, you can literally look each other in the eye during a phone call. Mobile TV brings tailor-made TV contents to the mobile phone such as the highlights from RTL, N24 and MTV as well as from comedy shows like TV Total with Stefan Raab. And, thanks to UMTS, you can quickly download your favourite song on your mobile and then store the song title from the Internet on your PC and burn it as a CD.
"For Vodafone, UMTS is the central innovation which will make decisive headway within the field of mobile communications. So far, telephony has been the focus of attention. With Vodafone live!, we already brought multimedia to the mobile phone two years ago. Now, thanks to UMTS, we are widening the spectrum considerably. In the future, video telephony, TV on the mobile phone, internet and mobile music will become everyday aspects to the same extent as is already the case with colour television in our lounges and music via CD in our stereo systems"; Jrgen von Kuczkowski, Chairman of the Board of Management at Vodafone D2 GmbH, is convinced of this. "Vodafone is now launching the UMTS mass business in Germany and twelve other countries by offering attractive mobiles, services and prices." |
