Free video calls and Vodafone live! 3G browsing for 3G handset holders until the end of September!
Vodafone Greece, with the commercial launch of 3G based services, is about to offer unique experiences and innovative services, expected to eventually change the way Greek mobile telephony subscribers communicate. This effect will be further achieved once the services will be fully launched within the next few months. The technology offered enables voice, image, text and multimedia transfer at speeds up to 384 Kbps, ensuring up to 7 times faster access compared with the current situation!
3G technology allows us to use our handsets for services that we couldn't have up till now (e.g. video calls, faster internet, etc.). Especially video-call which lets you actually look at the person you're talking to, in real time, makes the difference in communication.
Vodafone is the only company in the Greek mobile communications market which, along with the 3G network, also launched its 3G enabled Vodafone live! services menu, enriched with new pioneering services and possibilities making it even more exciting. It is worth pointing out that Vodafone Greece is the only mobile operator in the Greek market offering 3G services both to business and consumers through its Vodafone live! and Vodafone Mobile Connect Card services, respectively.
3G technology is available to both old and new subscribers, either post-pay or pre-pay (CU and a la Carte). The basic charges (voice, SMS, MMS and data) will be the same as the respective 2G charges, depending on the price plan used, while Video-calls and Vodafone live! browsing will be offered free of charge until 30/9/2004 to all 3G subscribers.
In the "News" section of 3G Vodafone live!, subscribers can watch 60 sec videos of the news from ANT1 TV, Monday through Friday.
Moreover, in the "Sports" section of 3G Vodafone live!, subscribers can use their handset to watch highlights, goals and the award ceremonies from UEFA Champions League finals of the last ten years, as well as extreme sports videos. Moreover, company subscribers can enjoy their favourite music videos, offered by major record companies such as Warner Music and Sony Music, as well as funny videos, watch movie reviews by film critic Panayiotis Timogiannakis, as well as trailers of movies on show or coming soon in Greek theatres. Apart from the 232 content services of Vodafone live!, it is worth noting that the 3G environment will be constantly upgraded with new categories and new associates so that Vodafone customers can fully enjoy the new technology's potential on their handsets.
At the same time, since end of July, Vodafone Greece has launched the new Vodafone Mobile Connect Card / 3G, enabling wireless Internet connection and data transfer at speeds up to 348 Kbps. Vodafone is the only mobile telephony company in Greece which combines the commercial launch of 3G in the Greek market with 3G roaming possibility with Vodafone networks in Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom, Japan, Ireland, Portugal and SFR France, both for Vodafone customers abroad and for visitors from the above networks. The list of available 3G roaming networks will continue to grow quickly.
Currently, the company's 3G network covers more than 25% of Greek population, especially in the following cities: Athens, Thessaloniki, Patras, Heraklio, Volos, as well as all the venues where games will take place in the following days within the auspices of Olympic Games, and all major road arteries leading to them.
