Anystream today announced that Hutchison 3G Austria uses Anystream Agility software as its automated video content encoding and delivery solution for its premier video service offerings. Hutchison 3G Austria is the fourth Hutchison service provider to implement an Anystream video-to-handset content encoding and delivery solution; similar Agility installations are used by 3 U.K., Hutchison Whampoa Ltd. Hong Kong and Hutchison 3G Australia Pty Ltd.

3 provides a wide range of video content services to subscribers, including music videos, entertainment and sports.

Anystream automates the complex process of acquiring source footage from content providers - among these well known brands such as MTV, Universal Music and ORF - and encodes and delivers them to network delivery stores for routing to end-user handsets in less than two minutes time.

"Anystream is an essential component of our commercial service roll-out, and has worked flawlessly as our subscriber base has grown," says Berthold Thoma, CEO Hutchison 3G Austria. "Not only does Anystream let us maximize efficiency and reduce operational costs, but it boosts our competitive position by delivering an outstanding mobile video experience for our customers."

In addition to compressing TV-quality video into the MPEG-4 wireless format, Agility creates dozens of different profiles each designed to leverage the screen sizes and resolutions of its six UMTS handset models. Agility automatically moves clips between 3G media storage and asset management systems, ensuring that all multimedia content is tracked and that all premium subscribers receive the content promised in their service plans.

Anystream is a leading supplier of solutions enabling 3G service providers to repackage broadcast video source material for subscriber video services. In addition to delivering end-to-end automation, Agility leverages its broadcast news heritage to provide the industry's fastest on-air-to-handset turn around times. Agility's fault-tolerant design, proven in the world's most demanding mission-critical broadcast environments, enables it to meet stringent carrier reliability standards. Agility supports leading 3G wireless formats, including GSM AMR, Phillips, Ericsson, Nextreaming and PacketVideo MPEG-4 3GPP and 3GPP2.
