UMTS with high performance technology is making mobile surfing on the Internet quicker than ever for Vodafone customers. As with the high performance technology for GPRS, which has already been introduced successfully, Vodafone customers benefit doubly from the new solution: compared with current data transmission via Vodafone UMTS, it is even possible for the data volume to be halved in the best case, and Internet pages are set up far more quickly. This means that there is real savings potential for the users of time and volume tariffs. Vodafone already provides UMTS network coverage in over 400 towns and cities.

UMTS with high performance technology is automatically available to all Vodafone customers without additional costs. The optimization is carried out when loading Internet pages as soon as a UMTS connection is established. Changes to the system settings are not required for this.

What is decisive for the notable increase in speed is a reduction of the data volume transmitted. This is mainly due to compressing the picture files. Moreover, Vodafone is optimising the transmission protocols and thus the pages are set up more quickly. Vodafone high performance UMTS also works when surfing on the Internet with a Vodafone card when abroad if the customer is using one of Vodafone's UMTS roaming partner networks there and if UMTS network coverage is provided.
