COSMOTE has launched its LTE network in Athens and Thessaloniki. The super fast mobile broadband service is available on LTE tablets and USB modems for new customers on the COSMOTE Internet On the Go 20 GB price plan. Existing customers can access LTE as an add-on option on the COSMOTE Internet On the Go 5 GB, 10GB, Student and COSMOTE Internet Any Way 5 GB plans.

COSMOTE breaks ground in Greece with the commercial launch of its 4G LTE (Long Term Evolution) mobile broadband network in Athens and Thessaloniki.

The new 4th generation network significantly improves customer experience, by offering exponentially higher speeds of internet navigation, the use of advanced multimedia applications, such as HD Streaming and HD Video-conferencing, as well as the ability to send and receive large files. The speeds are such that, on average, users can download an HD movie in just 2-3 minutes.

“By registering one more first, COSMOTE now introduces to consumers the experience of extremely high speeds, with its 4th generation network offering speeds much higher than those of 3G networks”, stated the General Technical Director of COSMOTE, Mr Giorgos Tsonis, adding: “COSMOTE’s 4G network already covers the majority of municipalities in the regions of Attica and Thessaloniki, while the gradual development of the network is ongoing. Soon, COSMOTE 4G will be available in more Greek cities”.

The new 4G COSMOTE network is available for data uploading and downloading initially through 4G tablets and USB sticks to customers who subscribe to the new COSMOTE Internet On The Go 20GB program tariff plan, and will also be available as an option with the existing COSMOTE Internet On The Go 5GB, 10GB, Student and COSMOTE Internet Any Way 5GB plans.

Furthermore, prepaid subscribers will be able to access the 4th generation network through the new COSMOTE Internet On The Go connection package, namely the 4G Full Pack.1 The same goes for existing subscribers to COSMOTE Internet On The Go connection packages, provided they acquire the appropriate 4G Tablet or USB Stick, under the applicable pricing policy.
