MegaFon Rolls Out LTE in Far East Capital

MagaFon has launched LTE services in the Khabarovsk region. With 100 base stations deployed, the Russian operator now provides LTE services in almost all of Khabarovsk and in the other regional cities Krasnaya Rechka, Poselok Kirova, Ilyinka, Topolevo, Rakitnoye and Berezovka. To take advantage of the new technology, MegaFon offers its own branded USB modems which retail at RUB1990 (US$63), including free mobile internet access during a trial period that ends in December.

MegaFon increased its 4G services footprint in the Far East. 4G network will provide MegaFon customers in Khabarovsk with fast download speed of “heavy” files in the mobile network while watching HD videos online and faster Internet surfing. At the same time, MegaFon launched sales of its 4G modems in Khabarovsk which let to appreciate the advantages of the new technology.

Khabarovsk, the capital of the Far East, is the next Russian city to get top mobile technologies. 100 4G base stations provide 4G services in almost all of Khabarovsk and in regional cities such as Krasnaya Rechka, Poselok Kirova, Ilyinka, Topolevo, Rakitnoye, Berezovka.

The main advantages of 4G networks for customers are higher data speed and fast response of mobile devices. Videos, graphics and other “heavy” content go faster. Average speed of data in existing 4G networks is above 20Mbps which is several times higher vs. 3G.
