Vodafone has announced plans to deploy an LTE network in selected
areas in Greece by the end of 2012. The operator has invested more
than EUR500 million in its Greek network infrastructure over the last
three years, with EUR168.5 million spent on renewing its mobile spectrum
license and purchasing additional frequencies. The network will enable
the operator’s subscribers in Greece to use multimedia applications,
such as HD Streaming and HD Video-Conferencing. Vodafone already
operates commercial LTE networks in Germany and Portugal.
Vodafone, loyal to its strategy to provide superior data services has
focused on the deployment of a 4th generation network (4G via LTE
technology) across Europe, with an objective to offer a unique
communication experience to its subscribers, via its highly reliable
network.
Vodafone began in 2010 the deployment of 4G network in Europe, and
today 4G networks are already deployed for commercial use in Germany
and Portugal, whereas pilot testing continues in a series of countries.
Vodafone Greece Technology Division actively participates in this
European effort, aiming at the development of another innovative
technology, and capitalizing on Vodafone’s international experience,
know-how and leading position in the global telecommunications market.
In Greece, Vodafone plans to deploy mobile broadband 4G network in
selected areas in the course of this year. The 4G network deployment
will allow Vodafone subscribers to experience high-speed data services,
at multiple rates compared the current ones, as well as to benefit
from even higher capacity in order to upload and download large files.
Furthermore, thanks to the new generation network, subscribers will
have the opportunity to use multimedia applications, such as HD
Streaming and HD Video-Conferencing.
With an objective to further advance its network and deploy new
innovative 4G services, Vodafone Greece recently made one of the most
important investments carried out in Greece, worth 168.5 million Euro.
With this investment Vodafone Greece renewed its mobile communications
spectrum license, as well as purchased additional spectrum, in order to
offer to its subscribers the most reliable mobile voice and data
services.
Only in the last three years, Vodafone Greece has invested more than
half a billion Euro for network infrastructure underlining its
commitment to offer the utmost customer experience, through the most
innovative technologies as well as its commitment to constantly improve
the country’s telecommunications’ infrastructures.
