Hutchison 3G HK Limited (Hutchison 3G HK) has been working with Nokia for the deployment of core network equipment for its third generation (3G) WCDMA-based network. The core network equipment supplied by Nokia consists of both circuit and packet core networks, as well as the Nokia NetActTM System for network management, in compliance with the international specifications set by the 3G Partnership Project (3GPP).
The equipment supplied by Nokia forms an important part of Hutchison's 3G network in Hong Kong for delivering high quality 3G performance and services. With the construction of its 3G network and systems successfully completed, Hutchison 3G HK is undergoing internal trials, gathering feedback to further enhance its service content, as well as international roaming services in preparation for the launch of its 3G services under the "3" brand.
Mrs. Agnes Nardi, Managing Director of Hutchison Telecommunications (Hong Kong) Limited said, "We are pleased to have Nokia, a world leader in mobile communications, as one of our 3G network equipment vendors. Our network has been successfully built offering full coverage in the territory and the feedback on our internal trials is very positive. We are in an excellent position to lead 3G implementation in the local mobile market, putting Hong Kong at the forefront of the new 3G mobile era."
"Nokia has been a long-term partner with Hutchison 3G Group following an agreement for core and radio network equipment signed with Hutchison 3G UK in April 2001. With further partnership in Hong Kong, we are not only continuing cooperation with the key mobile operator in Hong Kong, but also strengthening our relationship with a leading global telecoms player," says Rajeev Suri, Vice President & General Manager, Nokia Networks. "Hutchison Telecom in Hong Kong has established a first-class reputation in mobile communications, and we have been excited to work with them in building out their next-generation network." |
