América Móvil has selected Alcatel-Lucent as an equipment supplier for its LTE network rollout in Latin America. The next-generation mobile broadband deployment will commence in Puerto Rico in the coming weeks. The vendor will provide its LTE solution to América Móvil’s local operator, Claro, including the lightRadio portfolio of products that reduces operating costs, technical complexity and power consumption in mobile broadband networks.

America Movil, the leading wireless services provider in Latin America, has selected Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) to provide infrastructure for its LTE/4G network rollout in Latin America.

The deployment will commence with America Movil’s operator Claro commercially launching high-speed mobile broadband services to subscribers in Puerto Rico in the coming weeks. Claro’s service offering will use Alcatel-Lucent’s LTE solution, including its breakthrough lightRadio™ portfolio of products.
