Following a network upgrade in the Gorenjska region, Si.mobil has announced plans to expand HSPA+ coverage to the Koroška and Podravska region. The Slovenian operator has been deploying the new infrastructure using refarmed 900 MHz spectrum. Si.mobil expects to complete its national network upgrade by the end of October, enabling peak downlink speeds of up to 21Mbps.

Following a successful network upgrade in the Gorenjska region, the works are moving to the Koroška and Podravska region. The upgrade will improve the network's capacity, speed and responsiveness.

Today, 22 August 2011, Si.mobil began a comprehensive upgrade of its network in the Koroška and Podravska regions. The state-of-the-art and energy-efficient infrastructure will support UMTS 900 technology, which will bring mobile broadband internet to rural areas and several towns.

During the following two weeks the works will be carried out all over Koroška and Podravska regions. In Koroška the works will begin in the area of Prevalje, Ravne na Koroškem, Mežica and Črna na Koroškem. After that they will move to Slovenj Gradec, Mislinja, Kotlje, Radlje ob Dravi, Šmartno pri Slovenj Gradcu, Podvelka, Trbonje, Dravograd, Muta and Šentjanž pri Dravogradu. In the Podravska region the works will start in Ruše, Selnica ob Dravi, Ribnica na Pohorju, Sveti Duh na Ostrem vrhu and Lovrenc na Pohorju, followed by Poljčane, Zgornja Ložnica and Oplotnica whereas other parts of Podravska will get their upgrades mid October.

The upgrade will improve the network's capacity, speed and responsiveness. The mobile broadband internet will provide data rates of up to 21Mbps. The extensive network upgrade throughout Slovenia should be completed by the end of October.
During the upgrade, occasional interruptions in the operation of the services are possible in the listed towns and villages and their surroundings. Si.mobil's experts will do their best so that the users will be able to use the services with as few interruptions as possible during the upgrade.
