Telefónica Czech Republic has added the Huawei IDEOS X1 smartphone to its handset lineup. The Android device will be available exclusively from O2 Czech Republic until 8 September. It retails at the non-subsidised price of CZK2,696 (US$160) or at CZK1 when combined with a mobile broadband contract.

Telefónica Czech Republic extends its portfolio by the IDEOS X1 Huawei smart handset. In the period between 25 August and 8 September 2011, the handset will be available exclusively from O2. Later, the exclusivity will continue among mobile operators. The non-subsidized price of CZK 2,696 makes this handset the cheapest smart OS Android handset in the O2 portfolio. Customers can get it for as little as CZK1 together with a voice tariff combined with Internet on Your Mobile service.
"The interest in smart handsets is breaking records. Smartphones currently account for four in five handsets sold. 70% of customers who buy a smart device subscribe to one of our data tariffs. It is a result of our efforts in expanding the coverage of our 3G network and the popularisation of the convenience and benefit of having small-screen internet access and the world of applications though our Now I Know Why campaign," says Jiří Dvorjančanský, marketing director or Telefónica Czech Republic.
