dtac Launches 3G HSPA Service on 850 MHz with a Bt 1.2 Billion Investment

Total Access Communication (dtac) has announced plans to invest 1.2 billion Baht (US$40 million) to upgrade its network to HSPA, using the 850 MHz frequency band. The Thai operator will deploy HSPA technology at up to 1,220 base stations across the country. The upgrade is dtac’s response to increasing demand for mobile broadband services in Thailand.

Total Access Communication PLC (dtac), today announced a 1.2 billion Baht investment plan to upgrade its network to High Speed Data Packet Access (HSPA) on 850 MHz band, for 3G service up to 1,220 base stations. The network upgrade will enable the company to provide greater benefits with a full portfolio of broadband mobile internet services based on 3G technology for consumers in Thailand.

The company takes a step forward in offering 3G services with a 1.2 billion Baht investment plan for a network upgrade, in order to make full use of the allocated frequency bands by replacing and expanding its HSPA network up to 1,220 base stations across Thailand.
