Norway’s NetCom, part of TeliaSonera, has launched its LTE network in three new cities: Trondheim, Bergen and Stavanger. NetCom already provides LTE coverage in Oslo. The operator has invested EUR1 billion in the mobile network upgrade. During 2011, several cities, towns and popular holiday resorts will be connected to its LTE network. Once the modernization is completed, 89% of Norway’s population will have access to LTE, while 95% of the population will have access to 3G.

Today, NetCom launched 4G in Trondheim, Bergen and Stavanger. Already in December 2009 4G was launched in Oslo.
- We are pleased that we now can launch the 4G network in these three cities and that those who live and work there have access to next generation mobile networks. 4G provides our customers with the ability to surf through the mobile network with extremely good speed, and we believe that the new super-network will help to change our mobile and internet habits even further, “says August Baumann, CEO of NetCom.

- With 4G you can do the same on the internet as you do today, without having to be connected to a cable or a WiFi zone with limited range. 4G is so fast that heavy attachment of 500 MB can be downloaded in a few minutes. You can stream live HD movies and playing online games without any delay. You can watch YouTube with the highest quality. And you can send heavy image files without any problems, “said Baumann.
