T-Mobile Austria Offers Faster, More Energy Efficient Mobile Broadband

Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) has upgraded T-Mobile Austria’s network with HSPA+ technology capable of supporting peak downlink data speeds of up to 21 Mbps, with the potential to evolve to 42 Mbps in the future. The upgrade will shorten voice and data call set-up and latency times, while increasing data speeds and improving smartphone battery life. With HSPA+, T-Mobile Austria improves data speeds and better manages network capacity during peak times, further improving customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Subscribers of T-Mobile Austria now enjoy faster Internet access with mobile data speeds of up to 21 megabits per second (Mbps). Nokia Siemens Networks has provided the improvement with its HSPA+ network software. The upgrade shortens voice and data call set-up and response times (known as latency) while increasing data speeds and improving smartphone battery life.

“With people wanting to be connected round the clock, there’s a growing demand for mobile broadband, resulting in an increase in data traffic,” said Rüdiger Köster, chief technology officer, T-Mobile Austria. “The HSPA+ upgrade from Nokia Siemens Networks delivers better voice telephony and data services for our customers.”

Nokia Siemens Networks helps T-Mobile Austria reduce voice call set-up time and avoids delays in its network. The upgrade enables smartphones to communicate more efficiently while extending battery life. T-Mobile Austria will boost mobile data speeds to 42 Mbps. The software includes features that allow T-Mobile Austria to automate network processes and lower operating costs. In addition to this, Nokia Siemens Networks’ NetAct software and Self Organizing Networks (SON) will enable the operator to constantly monitor the networks, simplify operations and enjoy additional cost savings.

Nokia Siemens Networks previously helped T-Mobile Austria modernize its 3G network in 2009, reducing its overall energy consumption and enhancing network performance.
