NEC Conducts LTE Trial with SingTel Group in the Philippines

NEC has completed the first phase of an LTE field trial in the Philippines with Globe Telecom, a subsidiary of SingTel. The trial has verified a variety of LTE functions required for commercial service under field environment, such as quality of service, latency and hand-over within urban mobile environments in Makati and Quezon City. NEC has reported up to 60 Mbps downlink data throughput rates at 10 MHz bandwidth during the trial.

NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701) announced today its successful completion of Phase 1 field trial for Long Term Evolution (LTE), a next generation mobile communications technology, with a Singapore Telecommunications Limited (SingTel) Group associate, Globe Telecom Inc. (Headquarters: Mandaluyong City, Philippines; President and CEO: Ernest L. Cu), a leading telecommunications company in the Philippines. NEC will continue to provide extensive support for Phase 2 of the LTE field trial towards commercialization (commercial network).

The Phase 1 field trial verified a variety of LTE functions required for commercial service under field environment, such as quality of service, latency and hand-over within urban mobile environments in Makati and Quezon City. Furthermore, the trial achieved up to 60Mbps downlink data throughput rate at 10MHz bandwidth.
