Turkish operator Avea has expanded 3G coverage along the high-speed train line between Ankara and Eskisehir, in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport and the Turkish State Railway (TCDD). Passengers will be able to access Avea’s HSDPA mobile broadband internet services, as well as video calls and mobile TV, during the 1.5-hour journey.

Avea, the operator that offers the highest duration of calls in Turkey, is rapidly continuing with the investments it has been making in the area of 3G. Having started to offer 3G infrastructure on Ankara-Eskisehir "High Speed Train" line with the cooperation of the Ministry of Transport and the State Railway Organization of the Republic of Turkey, Avea is offering its customers the opportunity to make use of the 3G technology also during their travels on that line.

Within that scope, the passengers of the "High Speed Train" will be able to make use of all such services of Avea as "high speed mobile internet", "visual calls" and "mobile TV" by using the 3G technology during their trips, the duration of which has now dropped down to 1,5 hour.

Delivering a speech at the introductory meeting for 3G coverage area on the Ankara-Eskishir "High Speed Train" line of 245 km, Avea CEO Erkan Akdemir said they are continuing to make the lives of their customers easier and more enjoyable with the products and services they have developed with the 3G technology. Also expressing their happiness for the 3G coverage on the high speed train line thanks to the cooperation with the Ministry of Transport and TCDD, Akdemir said: "We are rapidly enhancing our service diversity and connection network for optimizing the services for our customers. In that respect, we have recently readied the Ankara – Eskisehir "High Speed Train" line for the utilization of 3G by using the existing infrastructure of Avea. We are targeting to spread the utilization of the 3G technology, which we believe will play a critical role in Turkey's evolution into an information society countrywide."
