The Norwegian Government today announced that Hi3G Access Norway AS, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hi3G Access AB, has been awarded a licence to offer 3G services in Norway. Under the brand 3, the company will provide the Norwegian population with world-leading mobile video communication and other mobile telecom services.
"3 brings a strong mobile video communication offering to the Norwegian market. We have started providing services in Sweden and will soon in Denmark, which together with the rest of the global 3 network gives us a strong position to offer innovative services at competitive prices in Norway", says Chris Bannister, CEO for 3 in Scandinavia.
3 already has 520,000 customers (as per 21 August) in Australia, Austria, Italy, Sweden and the UK. In addition, 3 services will be introduced in Hong Kong, Ireland and Israel.
The price for the licence amounted to 62 MNOK. As holder of a licence, Hi3G is requested to provide at least 30 % of the Norwegian population with 3G coverage within six years. |
