www.dna.fi Finland’s mobile operator DNA has introduced a new mobile broadband modem manufactured by Nokia, supporting peak data transfer rates of up to 10.2 Mbps – currently the fastest in the market. DNA is the first operator in Finland to offer Nokia’s mobile broadband modem devices. The co-operation aims to give customers access to higher data speeds enabled by DNA’s WCDMA/HSPA mobile network. The Nokia Internet Stick CS-15 device will be marketed as part of the operator’s Mokkula family of mobile broadband products. Customers on a 24-month fixed-term contract can get the modem free of charge. DNA introduces a modem device with a data transfer speed of up to 10.2 MB/sec in the Finnish market By launching the new modem device, currently the fastest in the market, DNA aims at ensuring the continuously high quality of its mobile data transfer services. “Since the maximum data transfer rates of our mobile phone network are increasing all the time, we are continuously seeking to provide terminal devices that efficiently support higher speeds. We expect to substantially increase the number of satisfied Mokkula modem device users and are delighted to be able to expand the Mokkula family with a product manufactured by Nokia,” says Erik Sylvestersson, head of sales and marketing at DNA. DNA is the first operator in Finland to offer Nokia’s modem devices which enable customers to better benefit from the increasing data speeds of the mobile network. “We believe that Finnish consumers will find the benefits provided by the Nokia-DNA co-operation in mobile broadband very attractive,” says Mauri Pietikäinen, Nokia’s country manager for Finland. ”The Nokia Internet Stick CS-15 makes it possible to use the Internet with a high-speed, wireless broadband connection. This USB data modem offers the user an easy and rapid laptop connection to the Internet and e-mail while on the move.” The data transfer services of the DNA network are being developed not only by increasing the network’s downlink capacity and maximum speeds (from the network to the terminal device) but also by upgrading the network’s uplink capacity and functionality (from the terminal device to the network) which are essential, for example, when sending e-mail attachments. Thanks to the network updates and the new Mokkula modem device, DNA is able to provide a more competitive mobile data transfer response time (Round Trip Time). ”Recent terminal device comparisons show that Nokia’s device achieves higher speeds than other modem devices currently on offer, and the connection quality is also more stable than before,” says Sylvestersson. “Nokia Internet Sticks are using the latest soft modem technology optimized for data modem use, and the cellular platform used in our products is one of the best in the market.” The new Mokkula modem device will be available in DNA retail outlets and the DNA Online Shop. Customers concluding a 24-month fixed-term contract will get it free of charge. |
