Jean-Pierre Bienaimé, Chairman - Permanent Member

Jean-Pierre Bienaimé has been Chairman of the UMTS Forum since January 2003. Joining France Telecom (FT) in 1979, his responsibilities included financial management and planning at national and regional level. He has also served as Advisor to the General Director of Moroccan Telecommunications, Director of Marketing and Product Development for international business networks & services at FT, Director of Business Development and Subsidiaries at France Cables & Radio, Chief Executive Officer of Nexus International, and Director of International Development at France Telecom Mobiles. As Group Technical Support Director at Orange, he provided networks and IT support to the business units and mobile affiliates worldwide, and contributed to re-branding and franchising programmes.

Thomas Sidenbladh, Vice Chairman, Permanent Member

Thomas
Sidenbladh has been working since 1985 for Ericsson in a number of
capacities, the last 14 years within Government Affairs.
In 2002 he became Vice President and Head of the Ericsson lobbying
office in Brussels and stayed there until 2006. He was one of the
Members signing the original UMTS Forum Articles of Association in
1997. Before Ericsson he was Deputy Undersecretary of State at the
Ministry of Industry in Sweden, responsible for technical research and
development policy and space industry policy.

Guillaume LeBrun, Chairman Spectrum Aspects Group - Permanent member
|
Guillaume Lebrun works at Qualcomm Inc. in the Government Affairs
Europe, Middle East and North Africa department. In this capacity, he
contributes in pushing forward Qualcomm's spectrum and regulatory
policy agenda in Europe and MENA across various government entities and
industry organisations, including ITU, CEPT, Digital Europe and UMTS
Forum. Prior to joining Qualcomm, Guillaume worked in France Telecom in
the corporate Spectrum Office and in the R&D division. He is
currently chairman of the UMTS Forum Spectrum Aspect Group. He is a
graduate from the Telecom Paris and holds a PhD in Telecommunication
from Victoria University (Melbourne, Australia). He was a pioneer of
research on MIMO-OFDM technology, holds several patents and authored
reference papers on the topic.

Cengiz Evci, Chairman, Manufacturers' Group, Permanent Member
|
Dr. Cengiz Evci is the Chief Frequency Officer at Alcatel-Lucent’s
Carrier Products/Wireless Technologies/CTO Office since 1998. He was
involved in UMTS Forum since 1996, right from the beginning and as well
as in the UMTS Task Force for the creation of the Forum. He was the
initiator of the 3G/UMTS activities within Alcatel in the context of
RACE-1043 project. He has been an Alcatel-Lucent Technical Academy
member since 2001, and presently, he is Alcatel-Lucent’s lead
representative in several international groups such as ITU–R, the UMTS
Forum and ECC activities. He has been a senior member of IEEE since
1989 and also around 100 publications at various international journals
and conference proceedings.

Peter Zidar, Chairman Operators’ Group, Permanent Member
|

Peter
Zidar is Head of the Standardization Office at Mobitel (the leading
mobile operator in Slovenia). With 14 years’ experience in
Telecommunications and Information Technology within Mobitel, he is the
main contact person for international organizations such as ETSI (and
3GPP), OMA, the UMTS Forum and ETNO FM Group.
Additionally, his duties include membership in the Slovenian ICT Technology Network and Slovenian eMobility platform.

Werner Wiedermann, Vice Chairman Operators’ Group, Permanent Member
|
|
Werner Wiedermann is in charge of Technology and Innovation Management
including co-ordination of research programmes within Mobilkom Austria,
the leading mobile service provider in Austria. He has long experience
in the field of mobile communication, starting his career in 1986 as an
engineer for radio networks.
Later on he was responsible for systems engineering and mobile service
development, and since 2002 in charge of Mobilkom Austria’s innovation
and research activities. He is also a lecturer in telecommunication and
a regular speaker at international conferences.”

Colin Chandler, Permanent Member

Colin Chandler is Director, Business Development at Qualcomm Europe, based in London. With more than 27 years experience in the mobile communications industry, Colin has been active in both the operator and manufacturer communities. Since joining Qualcomm Europe in 1998, Colin has been involved in the UMTS/WCDMA standardisation process through his participation in ETSI and 3GPP. More recently he has represented Qualcomm in a number of industry bodies including the UMTS Forum. He is also part of the Qualcomm Business Development team for Central and Eastern Europe.
