Vodafone Australia has launched the country’s first visual voicemail service for its iPhone 3G customers. The service displays the time and identity of the caller, enabling customers to select which message they want to listen to, but it does not automatically transcribe any voicemails into text. All Vodafone iPhone 3G customers will have access to the Visual Voicemail application on 29 May 2009.

Vodafone Australia has announced it is Australia’s first mobile service provider to offer visual voicemail application to its iPhone 3G customers.

Vodafone’s revolutionary Visual Voicemail application allows Vodafone iPhone 3G customers to see exactly who has left a voicemail message and what time they left it on their handset. With one touch, users will be able to choose what messages they want to listen to, or even skip messages completely.

All Vodafone iPhone 3G customers will have access to the Visual Voicemail application by close of business Friday 29 May 2009. Over the next few days, Vodafone will proactively notify customers via a text message, alerting them to this new voicemail service.

Edward Goff, General Manager of Consumer Markets, Vodafone Australia, commented: “Vodafone is thrilled to be on the front-foot of innovation, launching this Australian-first application to Vodafone iPhone 3G customers.

“Our iPhone 3G customers will no longer have to trawl through all their voicemails to get to the ones they want to hear. It’s convenience at your fingertips.”

Vodafone iPhone 3G customers are encouraged to install or update the latest iTunes software on their handsets as soon as possible in order to access Vodafone’s Visual Voicemail application for the iPhone 3G when it becomes available to them.
