Alcatel announced today that it has signed an OEM agreement with US based Adjungo Networks, a wireless LAN security & management company with clear focus on mobile operators, adding to its portfolio a secure and manageable public wireless solution.

Thanks to this new feature in its portfolio, Alcatel can now meet the specific needs of a mobile operator who wishes to complement its GSM/GPRS/CDMA and UMTS service offerings with Public WLAN services. Alcatel and Adjungo's solution offer a complete set of secure authentication mechanisms for WLAN users, such as SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) based and Virtual SIM authentication, which leverages the mobile network capabilities supporting 802.1x hot spots and Web Based hot spots. The offer also includes an SMS (Short Message System) based authentication feature, to target the casual users market segment.

"We are very pleased to conclude this agreement with Adjungo Networks which will allow us to complement our fixed and mobile access solutions portfolio with an innovative and secure Wireless LAN access solution. We look forward to providing our mobile customers with a full set of turnkey solutions including GSM/GPRS and UMTS networks as well as WLAN and LMDS capabilities." said Pascal Homsy, VP Fixed Wireless Business Unit, Mobile Communications Group.

"Adjungo Networks is delighted to work with Alcatel because we believe that together we can effectively meet the emerging needs of mobile carriers. We are convinced that WLAN public access ideally complements GSM/GPRS and UMTS mobile networks." added, Adina Enden, CEO of Adjungo Networks.
