Alcatel introduces the Ultimate Broadband Wireless Access Solution for 3G/UMTS backhaul
Alcatel today announced the release of its brand new terminal "Quad E1 Multi-mode" adding breakthrough functions for mobile backhaul applications to its industry-leading broadband wireless access solution the Alcatel 7390 LMDS.
Thanks to embedded ATM features, such as Inverse Multiplexing ATM (IMA), this new terminal dramatically reduces cost for the 3G mobile Backhaul End-To-End solution, while answering current & future transmission needs (capacity and Quality of Service with Dynamic Bandwidth Allocation for up-coming UMTS variable bit rate traffic).
Further more, this multi-mode terminal can simultaneously handle 2G BTS traffic in the most efficient way, using Circuit Emulation Service or Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) transport mode.
In parallel, complementing the large portfolio of LMDS terminals for broadband data access applications, the Fast Ethernet (10/100 BT) terminal is now available as part of the 7390 LMDS system. It provides higher capacity (with up to 32 Mbps throughput) as well as increased flexibility to connect any enterprise data device (switch, routers, etc.).
"Our mobile backhaul solution is now complemented by the unprecedented LMDS terminal Quad E1 ATM/TDM/CES, offering an easy-to-implement, future-proof & cost-effective solution for backhauling mixed 2G & 3G mobile networks" declared Pascal Homsy, president of Alcatel's Fixed Wireless activities.
