3 and Research In Motion (RIM) today introduced the BlackBerry® 8707g smartphone at significant cost savings, offering BlackBerry® Enterprise Solution free of charge, including installation and client access licenses, to businesses that activate five or more users on one of 3’s plans for BlackBerry Enterprise Solution.

Available today, the BlackBerry 8707g smartphone provides easy wireless access to phone, email, text messaging, organiser, Web browsing and other mobile applications. Customers can purchase the BlackBerry 8707g smartphone on a 24 month contract on any 3 Cap, TalkBusiness or Business Shared Cap Plan. 3’s lowest entry plan with a free BlackBerry 8707g smartphone on a 24 month contract is the $79 plan.

All plans include unlimited email in 3’s Broadband Zones and 3’s networks overseas, varying voice call inclusions and 2GB of data. Customers can choose service on either BlackBerry Enterprise Solution or BlackBerry® Internet Service with the plans.

Designed for corporate customers with their own IT environments, the BlackBerry Enterprise Solution tightly integrates with IBM Lotus® Domino®, Microsoft® Exchange and Novell GroupWise® and works with existing enterprise systems to enable secure, push-based wireless access to email, organiser and other applications.

An ideal solution for individuals and small businesses that do not manage their own servers, BlackBerry Internet Service allows users to access up to 10 supported ISP and web-based email accounts, such as Bigpond, iiNet, Yahoo!® Mail and Gmail, from a single device.

“The BlackBerry solution is a great communications tool that’s now available on 3. With the ability to get free installation of BlackBerry Enterprise Solution, business customers with a mobile workforce can now gain from the productivity benefits of the BlackBerry solution at great cost savings,” said Noel Hamill, Director Sales, Marketing and Products at 3.

“Individual customers can also have the opportunity to embrace the powerful BlackBerry smartphone features that make it the preferred choice of millions of business users around the world,” said Hamill.

“The BlackBerry solution is acclaimed by corporations, government organisations and individuals around the world for its superior communications and mobility features that connect users to the people and information that matter most. We are very pleased to bring the BlackBerry solution to 3's customers in Australia,” said Norm Lo, Vice President of Asia Pacific at Research In Motion.

The 3G-enabled (UMTS) BlackBerry 8707g smartphone features an elegant design with a full QWERTY keyboard, large bright display, premium phone features, fantastic messaging capabilities and access to a variety of business applications that support the BlackBerry platform. The smartphone supports simultaneous voice and data access and can be used as a wireless modem for laptops, offering mobile professionals more flexibility to stay connected.

Unlimited Email in '3 Like Home' countries
In addition to unlimited email in 3’s Broadband Zones, customers travelling overseas can also get unlimited emails overseas when they are on the 3 network in other 3 countries such as the UK, Hong Kong, Italy, Sweden, Austria, Denmark or Ireland. Customers will also get rates for voice calls similar to rates at home.

“Business customers in particular depend heavily on email communications and realise the importance and value in being accessible. Being able to take advantage of ‘3 Like Home’ rates means even better value,” said Hamill.
