Yesterday, the Dutch Radio Communications Agency ('Agentschap Telecom') officially informed Vodafone that it showed 100% UMTS license coverage. Moreover, in 99.33% percent Vodafone met the required network speed (data throughput). With this, Vodafone 'cum laude' meets all the network rollout obligations that were part of the UMTS license. The Dutch Radio Communications Agency has spent months to measure the UMTS coverage by the different network providers on numerous locations throughout the country. Guy Laurence, CEO at Vodafone Netherlands: "We are not only the number 1 in customer preference but now also best in class of all the Dutch mobile operators when it comes to network standards. The outcome of the measurements did not come as a surprise to us, but obviously we are very happy with this official confirmation. We were the first to introduce UMTS services in the Dutch market and have been leading in the field ever since. A reliable, good quality and high speed network is the basis for all the innovative mobile broadband services we daily provide to our customers. We have invested hundreds of millions in our network quality, capacity and speed over the past few years and we will keep doing so to uphold our reputation as the best network provider in the Netherlands."
Rectification The 2 locations where the Vodafone network came short on throughput, have in the meantime been fixed.
