| Airspan and LightSquared Team Up on Smart Grid with Licensed Spectrum and 4G Equipment Broadband wireless access solutions provider Airspan Networks has announced that it will exclusively resell 1.4 GHz mobile broadband spectrum from LightSquared, the US’ first wholesale-only integrated wireless broadband and satellite network. Airspan will market the 1.4 GHz wireless backhaul solution, including spectrum, equipment and services for Smart Grid and Smart Utility applications in the electric, gas and water utility sectors in the US. The 1.4 GHz licensed spectrum will be managed by Airspan and will be made available to utilities in their distinct geographic markets. |

| Global Mobile Data Traffic Nearly Triples in 1 Year Ericsson's latest measurement of actual traffic in networks around the world shows that global mobile data has nearly tripled in the last year, growing more than 10 times faster than voice. According to Ericsson statistics, global measured mobile data traffic stands at nearly 225,000 terabytes per month as of the second quarter of 2010.Mobile broadband adoption has accelerated following the introduction of high performance networks, enabling operators to increase profitability and competitive differentiation with mobile broadband. |

| Telecom Italia Launches Final Round of Tests on the Fourth Generation Mobile Network Telecom Italia has initiated the second phase of its LTE network trials in co-operation with major technology vendors, including Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson, Huawei and Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN). The operator has been authorised to test LTE technology in two 20 MHz blocks in the 2500-2690 MHz frequency band throughout 2010. The new trial will involve a series of integrated tests on 17 new sites in the centre of Turin, where Telecom Italia Group's TILab research and excellence centre is located. The aim of the trial is to verify the main LTE functionality and services, as well as the stability and interoperability between the LTE eco-system and Telecom Italia's existing mobile network. |

| Resolving the Dilemma of Mobile Broadband Network Congestion 3G Americas, a wireless industry trade association representing the 3GPP family of technologies, has published a white paper on the importance of traffic management for mobile broadband networks. The report, entitled “Traffic Management Techniques for Mobile Broadband Networks: Living in an Orthogonal World”, examines the challenges of handling dynamic and rapidly-growing traffic flows on 3GPP networks to ensure a high-quality user experience. The paper also stresses the role of bodies like 3GPP in supporting successful traffic management strategies for mobile broadband operators. |

| LTE Pilot Network to Provide High Speed Broadband in Halle (East Germany) Telefónica O2 Germany has selected Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) to deploy a pilot LTE network in the eastern city of Halle and its suburb Teutschenthal, an area with currently limited broadband access. Network deployment will start in September 2010 using the 2.6 GHz and 800MHz spectrum bands, with pre-commercial operation by the end of 2010. The LTE network will be based on NSN's Multiradio base stations and the Enhanced Packet Core nodes Flexi NG and Flexi NS. NSN will also manage and operate the network. |

| ZTE Helps UCell Launch 4G Network in Uzbekistan Uzbekistan’s UCell has deployed its LTE network with equipment supplied by China’s ZTE. ZTE supplied UCell with its Software Defined Radio (SDR) technology and Uni-RAN solution. During the trials in the country's capital Tashkent, ZTE and UCell demonstrated mobile broadband internet access, streaming video, file uploads and downloads, internet browsing and VoIP services. The network is capable of peak downlink rates of up to 100 Mbps. It is the second LTE network in Uzbekistan following the last month’s launch of LTE services by Russia’s MTS. |

| Nokia Siemens Networks Increases China Unicom 3G Service Quality China Unicom has deployed Nokia Siemens Networks’ (NSN) real-time traffic monitoring and analysis tool to ensure more consistent, higher quality and faster 3G mobile broadband services for the operator’s subscribers visiting the World Expo in Shanghai. NSN’s end-to-end solution helps to identify capacity problems and support real-time network optimization, enabling quicker resolution of customer issues. |
