| M1 Looks at 35% Reduction in Carbon Footprint in Singapore; LTE trial in February Singapore’s MobileOne (M1) has selected Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) for its planned LTE trials. The Finnish vendor will supply its Flexi Multiradio Base Stations to enhance network coverage and capacity, while lowering site power consumption significantly: this is expected to reduce M1’s network carbon footprint by up to 35% by early 2011. NSN will also provide its Evolved Packet Core (EPC) nodes, mobile softswitching and subscriber data management core network solutions, as well as its NetAct network management system, network optimization and related maintenance services to ensure optimum network quality. | Upgrade of SoftBank’s 3G Network to Meet Increased Data Usage in Japan Japan’s SoftBank has selected Ericsson to upgrade its mobile broadband network. Under the terms of the deal, the Swedish vendor will supply SoftBank with RBS6000 HSPA/LTE multi standard base stations plus rollout services, in a move to upgrade the operator’s network with multi-carrier HSPA technology which provides theoretical peak download speeds up to 42 Mbps. The upgrade, which will start in the first quarter of 2010 and is planned to be completed within 12 months, will be carried out in the most data dense areas in Japan: the Tokyo, Kansai and Tokai (Nagoya) regions. |

| Pannon Selects Alcatel-Lucent for Complete Mobile Network IP Transformation and Prepares Network for LTE Alcatel-Lucent has been contracted by Hungary’s Pannon to deploy its all-IP MPLS-based (Multiprotocol Label Switching) solution across the operator’s mobile core and backhaul networks. Alcatel-Lucent’s all-IP solution will allow Pannon to unify its mobile core network and mobile backhaul infrastructure ahead of future transition to LTE technology. |

| Under the Aegis of ARCEP, Operators Sign a 3G Mobile Network Sharing Agreement that Will Enable Full Nationwide Coverage by the End of 2013 French mobile operators Orange, SFR and Bouygues Telecom have signed a framework agreement for 3G network sharing. The development will allow operators to extend 3G coverage more easily and more quickly in some 3,600 municipalities across the country covered in the "2G dead zones" programme, plus 300 other municipalities. National coverage will be completed by the end of 2013. The three operators participating in the network sharing agreement will discuss terms under which new 3G UMTS licence holder Free Mobile can be included in this agreement. |

| ZTE to Build SDR Network for Portugal’s Optimus ZTE has been selected by Portugal’s Optimus to deploy a software defined radio (SDR) multi-mode platform. The SDR network will replace current 2G/3G infrastructure and provide a smooth evolution path to LTE. Under the contract, ZTE will supply Optimus with its SDR RAN solution, network management system, operating systems and software (NMS/OSS). According to Optimus’ rollout plans, the SDR system will initially cover four regions in central Portugal. |

| Motorola Deploys World's First TD-LTE Showcase Network at Shanghai Expo Motorola has deployed a TD-LTE (Time Division LTE) network at World Expo 2010 Shanghai China. As part of the trials conducted jointly with China Mobile, the US vendor will provide indoor over-the-air (OTA) TD-LTE coverage for pavilions at Shanghai Expo, which marks Motorola's continued efforts in accelerating TD-LTE commercialization. In addition to its advanced end-to-end TD-LTE solution, Motorola also supplies the world's first TD-LTE USB dongles. |

| Auction of 3G and BWA Spectrum in India India’s telecoms ministry (DoT) has announced a new schedule for the planned auction of 3G mobile frequencies in the 2100 MHz band. The deadline for submitting applications is now set as 19 March. The government will announce the qualified bidders by 30 March, with bidding set to commence on 9 April. The DOT will auction three or four 3G licences for each of the 22 regional circles. The 2100 MHz spectrum will be available in blocks of 2x5MHz. The auction of broadband wireless (BWA) spectrum will start two days after the end of the 3G auction. |
