Significant step forward for the wireless industry at WRC-07
The UMTS Forum welcomes the allocation and identification of new IMT frequency bands at this year’s ITU World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-07) as a reasonable result for the wireless industry and mobile subscribers.
Alcatel-Lucent and Uganda Telecom switch on Ugandan’s first commercial UMTS/HSPA service for the Summit of Head of States of the Commonwealth
Alcatel-Lucent today announced that it has successfully deployed the first third-generation UMTS/HSPA network for Uganda Telecom Ltd.(UTL), in time for the Summit of Head of States of the Commonwealth which takes place in Uganda and opens today (23 November).
Vodafone launches HSUPA and high-speed mobile data transmission rates of up to 1.45 MBit/s
Vodafone is the first network operator in Germany to launch a turbo mobile data transmission service. HSUPA (High-Speed Uplink Packet Access) supports uplink speeds of up to 1.45 megabits per second.
Telia offers customers free Turbo-3G surfing during 2008
Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö will be the first cities to use Telia's Turbo-3G in Sweden. After the initial launch of Turbo-3G, the build-out will continue and more than six million people in Sweden will have access to this new high-speed mobile broadband by summer 2008.
